Least necessary access
Access should be limited to what is required for the agreed work, with privileged access handled deliberately.
Trust centre
Knect may be trusted with access to systems, networks, email, backups and commercially sensitive information. That responsibility should be visible before a conversation begins.
Operating principles
These principles describe Knect’s approach. Specific controls, responsibilities, recovery objectives and contractual commitments must be agreed for each service.
Access should be limited to what is required for the agreed work, with privileged access handled deliberately.
Service ownership, supplier dependencies and escalation routes should be visible rather than assumed.
Only information needed for an enquiry or service should be requested, used and retained.
Passwords and unnecessary sensitive information should not be sent through ordinary website enquiries.
Backup is treated as part of recoverability and continuity—not as a box ticked when a job completes.
When something goes wrong, communication should distinguish known facts, actions, dependencies and next steps.
Privacy & data protection
The website explains who controls enquiry data, why it is used, the relevant lawful bases, likely recipients, retention criteria, individual rights and how to complain. Enquiries are sent securely to Knect for review, with clear guidance not to include passwords or unnecessary sensitive information.
Read the privacy notice →Regulatory scope
UK GDPR and data protection requirements apply where personal information is processed. PECR may apply to electronic marketing and technologies stored on a user’s device. Communications services can engage Ofcom rules on contracts, complaints, alternative dispute resolution, emergency calling and security. Residential services can also engage consumer law. Online Safety Act duties apply only where a service falls within scope—not automatically to every IT or hosting provider.
Where Knect operates or supports a service that may fall within a specific regulatory regime, scope, roles and responsibilities should be assessed for that service. Clients should not interpret this page as a certification or substitute for contract-specific legal and security review.
